About the Bakery


Caluda's King Cake proudly serves fresh king cakes to the New Orleans Metro Area year-round. We offer a variety of both traditional and non-traditional flavors out of our 10,000 sq ft. state-of-the-art bakery in Harahan, LA. With over 35 years in the industry, we know king cake—offering our customers moist, delicious king cakes and excellent service. We also ship our king cakes fresh all over the country and offer 24/7 online ordering.

John Caluda


Chef John Caluda heads the pastry team at Caluda's King Cake. Many of you may know John from Coffee Cottage, the cafe and bakery he operated for over 20 years.

John attended the University of New Orleans (UNO) but finished his education at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in New York City. Upon graduating from the CIA, he apprenticed in the pastry shop at the Royal Sonesta and became head baker at the Western Hotel. From there, John became the pastry cook at the Royal Orleans Hotel, where he was later promoted to Pastry Chef.

In 1990, John opened Coffee Cottage, which became well-known for fresh, hand-crafted pastries. Some of Coffee Cottage's specialties were their scones, almond croissants, praline coffee cake, chocolate eclairs, tiramisu, mousse cakes, strawberry napoleons, and seasonal items, including their wonderfully decorated and tasty yule logs, king cakes, and famous crawfish king cake.

John enjoys participating in the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival where he features his signature crawfish strudel and white chocolate bread pudding. He has also appeared in "Great Chefs, Great Cities" of the new guard.

He now runs his own catering company, Cottage Catering, right behind the old Citrus location.

Dianne Wininger


Dianne worked and managed a previous king cake bakery for over 15 years and has been involved with Caluda's King Cakes since 2008. She also works as a certified Court Reporter during the offseason. However, her most important job is being a mother to three beautiful kids: Lindsay, Mickey, and Amy.
